New Jersey, 1977. The air reeked of amphetamines and broken guitar strings. Glenn Danzig scribbled the Crimson Ghost’s face on a napkin, unaware it was a prophecy. Don Tonzo watched from the shadows, chewing neutron star shrapnel. “Cute doodle,” he said. “Let’s make it *real*.”
He marched into Hell’s green room, slaughtered the original Crimson Ghost with Cliff Burton’s bass solo (RIP), then stitched its soul into the first Misfits tee. “Punk’s dead,” Tonzo spat. “Now it’s *art*.”
THE RECKONING
1986. Metallica’s tour bus broke down near a cemetery. Burton saw the Ghost materialize, howling Ride the Lightning riffs. Danzig arrived on a Harley made of barbed wire and Jack Daniels. Together, they fought its spectral horde with:
- Danzig’s vocal cords (weaponized)
- Burton’s bass (now a flaming broadsword)
- Tonzo’s smirk (classified as a war crime)
Lobo crashed the battle on a spacehog, chain-chugging a six-pack of Quaaludes. “Nice ghost, fleshbag. Wanna sell its skull?”
Tonzo grinned. “Already did.”
MODERN DAY
You find the tee in a mosh pit that’s been raging since ’83. The Ghost’s skull leers, its jaw unhinging to swallow weak riffs. The tag reads: “GILDAN 64000 – WOVEN FROM DANZIG’S DISCARDED DEMO TAPES.”
First wear: your Spotify morphs into 24/7 Misfits B-sides. Second wear: Burton’s ghost teaches you bass in a fever dream. Third wear:
Don Tonzo and Lobo fistfight in your living room over who gets your soul. “Cute merch,” Tonzo says, bleeding antimatter. “But the Ghost wants royalties.”
THE LEGACY
The tee levitates at your first punk show. The Ghost’s eyes shoot laser riffs. Posers combust. Danzig’s voice booms from the pit: “WHO’S LAUGHING NOW?!”
Tonzo watches from the bar, arm-wrestling Lobo for a vial of Burton’s DNA. “Final offer,” he growls. “Wear it, or become the Ghost’s new meat puppet.”
The tee whispers: “DIE DIE MY DARLING.”
